Hello World

This is my first post.

How this started

I wanted to write a blog for a long time. The idea started when I changed careers and became a software engineer. A while ago I published an article on Matters (here), but I never got used to the writing experience there. So I decided to build my own site instead. I want to practice my writing, and I want a place to record what I study. Right now I mostly read about web3 technology. I may also give up halfway!?

What comes next

My main goal is to get to know web3 technology. I will start with IPFS.

  1. Notes on how I maintain the blog
The blog uses the zola framework. I picked it mainly because IPFS can only serve a static site. I also did not want to make this side project any more complicated than it needs to be. On top of that, I plan to add rust to my study list. There is not much Chinese discussion about zola, so I should have something to write about, for example, how do you fit a likecoin button in here??
  2. IPFS
I mainly use GitHub Actions to deploy to GitHub Pages. At the same time, I use Fleek to mirror the site onto the IPFS network. A few problems are still open. For example, I cannot get IPNS to work properly, so I cannot bind the site to my tezos domain ENS is too expensive. Through all the trial and error, I personally found Pinata nicer to use. I tried several gateways in a row, and none of them could reach the site that I deployed to Fleek. That said, Fleek optimized its deployment flow well, so you really can just follow the steps one by one.
update: on second thought, a GitHub Pages mirror looks redundant
  3. Rust
Well... I will get to that part later, haha

Summary

My next post will start with how I built this site with zola!
